The distinctive power of clove

Clove essential oil is obtained through steam distillation of the aromatic plant material of Eugenia caryophyllata. Its fragrance opens with an immediate burst of dry spice before developing into a full, warm and gently sweet heart.

Clove has a dominant presence in aromatic blends, so only a small amount is usually needed. It adds depth to citrus, woody, resinous and spicy oils, giving the entire composition a warmer and more intense character.
